Keiskamma Guernica

The Keiskamma Guernica is an interpretation of Pablo Picasso's compelling anti-war work, created to highlight the destruction wrought by HIV and AIDS in South Africa. The embroidery incorporates pieces of blankets used by patients dying from AIDS-related illnesses, living in a hospice established by the Keiskamma Trust to fill a total void in health care in the area. The trust works with local women to create the work, which is displayed at venues across South Africa and at the Venice Biennale.
