A-typical Kaposi’s Sarcoma

Doctors in Zambia and Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) note the emergence of an ‘a-typical’ form of Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) in people that would never have been associated with the disease previously – notably young women. Unlike previous cases of KS, the disease spreads quickly and is often fatal. Doctors note that it could be linked to AIDS.
