UK's call to action
On World AIDS day, Tony Blair pledges the UK will work with other donors to ensure that 3 million people living with HIV have access to ARVs by 2005 and that new infections among young people will fall by 25%. This strategy is accompanied by the announcement that UK funding to UNAIDS will double to £6 million the following year. Blair also promises an increase in UK political commitment and leadership.
