AIDS Law Project
South African Supreme Court of Appeal judge Justice Edwin Cameron founds the pioneering AIDS Law Project (ALP) to protect those affected by HIV. The ALP fights the government’s inaction on treatment for HIV and goes on to co-found the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), chaired by Zackie Achmat. Widely praised, in 2010 the ALP eventually becomes part of SECTION 27, focusing on wider socio-economic rights.
