UK strategy for achieving universal access

The UK’s 2008 strategy acknowledges the devastating impact of HIV and AIDS on countries’ progress towards better health, education and wealth. It commits the UK to continuing to play a leadership role in the global HIV response. The strategy emphasises the importance of comprehensive HIV prevention and identifies young people, children and marginalised people as priorities within the response. The Secretary of State, Douglas Alexander, promises the UK will provide support for international HIV institutions and systems.
