Towards zero infections

The UK’s 2011 strategy acknowledges, for the first time, that the response to HIV and AIDS must also tackle co-infections such as tuberculosis (TB). It also acknowledges the importance of tackling stigma and discrimination. The strategy commits the UK to promoting evidence-based policy and programmes and country-owned approaches. It also prioritises reducing new infections, scaling up access to treatment, tackling stigma and discrimination and addressing the underlying gender inequalities of the epidemic.
