Millennium Development Goals

Adopted at the Millennium Summit in September 2000, the Millennium Development Goals commit world leaders to targets around poverty, education, gender equality, health and sustainability. Goal 6 focuses specifically on HIV, with two targets: to “have halted by 2015 and begun to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS” and to “achieve, by 2010, universal access to treatment for HIV/AIDS for all those who need it”. However, by 2015 still only 46% of those needing treatment have access.
