Kami: the first muppet with HIV

Takalani Sesame, the South African version of sesame Street, introduces the world’s first HIV positive muppet, Kami. According to her backstory, both of Kami’s parents died from AIDS related illnesses. Kami, however, is healthy, vibrant and fun and spends her time educating young people about HIV. She is even named UNICEF’s champion for children in 2003.
