Injectable treatments approved by NICE

HIV treatment that can be injected every one or two months is approved for use in some countries. Draft guidance from the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) recommends offering the antiretroviral drugs cabotegravir and rilpivirine in England and Wales after trials prove they work as effectively as daily tablets. Thousands of people with HIV in Britain will be offered a new long-acting injection to manage their condition if they would prefer to stop taking daily pills.
