Circumcision
Trial data reveals that medically performed circumcision significantly reduces a man’s risk of acquiring HIV through heterosexual intercourse. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) announced results from two large-scale clinical trials. One, undertaken in Uganda, found a 48% reduction in HIV acquisition in circumcised men compared to uncircumcised men. Another trial, in Kenya, found a 53% reduction in HIV acquisition in circumcised men.
