China condom advert

China’s first television advert for condoms shows a cartoon condom fighting off HIV. However, just two days after the advert from the Family Planning Commission is watched by hundreds of millions on TV, the State Administration of Industry and Commerce bans it for breaching restrictions relating to sex advertising. China’s first officially-endorsed condom advert is finally aired in 2003 on the national China Central Television (CCTV) network to raise awareness of HIV.
