Philadelphia

Philadelphia follows the story of lawyer Andrew Beckett, who believes he has been set up and fired from his law firm because of his HIV status. Tackling issues previously unaddressed in mainstream cinema, the film gains Academy Awards for Tom Hanks (Best Actor) and Bruce Springsteen (Best Original Song). There is also criticism that the film fails to accurately portray what it is like living with HIV and AIDS.
