Thailand vaccine trial

An HIV vaccine trial involves 2,500 people who inject drugs begins in Thailand – the first human trial in a developing country. It followed another trial using the same underlying vaccine in the US, which started in 1998. Despite high hopes, both trials end in 2003 with no evidence of the vaccine providing any protection.
