TASO and home-based care

The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) is founded in Uganda by volunteers personally affected by AIDS, in response to the rise in stigma and discrimination amid a climate of fear about the disease. TASO later becomes the largest indigenous AIDS service organisation providing HIV and AIDS services in Uganda and Africa. Through training and support of family carers, TASO pioneer home-based care in Africa – essential in the context of the growing epidemic and inadequate health infrastructure.
