HIV risk and COVID-19
Evidence suggests that people living with HIV are at higher risk of becoming seriously ill, and dying from, COVID-19, than people without HIV. Further to this, a study of tuberculosis and HIV services in Zimbabwe during the COVID-19 pandemic shows a decline in case detection, treatment and HIV testing, suggesting that the pandemic has affected people’s ability to access vital health services.
