HIV named

Before HIV is given the name we know it as today, there is some dispute over what to call the virus. In May 1986, the International Committee on the Taxonomy of Viruses rules that both LAV and HTLV-III should be dropped. The dispute is solved by creating a new name, HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus).
