Brazil produces AZT

For many years, despite being the only drug available to control HIV infection, AZT remains too expensive for all but the richest nations. In 1993, Brazil takes the bold move to start national production of its own generic version. Big Pharma were unhappy with the move, but in the pre-TRIPS era, Brazil is technically not breaking any international laws.
